CCAD Calculation

The CCAD material calculation serves to determine material requirements and material utilization. The calculation is based on the CAD data and the material assignment of the bill of material. The CAD data need not necessarily be incurred in the CCAD 2D design, the import from an external system is possible at any time.

The material calculation has been planned and developed over the years in close cooperation with industry. All possible factors that can affect the consumption of materials have been considered and incorporated into the calculation. The calculation includes various calculation methods for determining the consumption of leather, textiles and stretch material. The CCAD calculation is the ideal tool for accurate precalculation, costing and final costing of material consumption.

Knowledge Transfer within the Company

The CCAD material costing takes into account various factors. Consumption values are determined depending on the material with scientific mathematical calculation methods. These consumption values form the basis for the calculation. Calculatory experience data is included in the calculation in the form of categories and surcharges. These empirical values are developed in the company usually over the years, collected and passed on from employee to employee. RG Technologies attaches great importance that this knowledge is integrated into the system. So it is not lost for the company. The CCAD material cost estimate is the ideal tool to reduce the dependency from individual employees in the area of calculation. The knowledge which is gained over the years, is transferred and saved in the system. It is then available to all employees.

CCAD Calculation Methods

CCAD Kalkulation

The CCAD material cost estimate includes all calculation methods that are required for the determination of material consumption of various materials. The individual methods are adapted to the material-specific conditions exactly and consider all relevant material parameters. These are in particular size, quality and degree of utilization of the material. The results obtained are always traceable and repeatable.

The calculation method can be automatically selected for each pattern by the system. Therefore it is important to consider the material group when defining the pattern names in CCAD Design. This function significantly reduces a major error source in the determination of the material approach.

Calculation of Leather

RG Technologies determines the material consumption of leather with the SLM method. This scientific method has been developed specifically for the needs assessment of leather and has proven itself in the industry for years.

The most important calculation factors are the following:

  • Material size
  • Trimming
  • Utilization factor of the material
  • Surface Area
  • Ratio of large to small patterns within a model

After the calculation, taking into account all factors, the result is shown with the following values

  • Net area
  • Surface area after a theoretical rubber band was placed around the pattern. It spans over indentations in the surface. This is called the block area.
  • Interlock area: Block area minus base area. Indentations which are allowed to place further patterns.
  • The block area minus interlock area is the base area. This is the main value of the result. Based on this base area, the actual material usage is determined.

Highest accuracy is essential when calculating the consumption of leather. The cost of the leather is one of the biggest factors in the price of a leather good. RG Technologies meets this requirement on accuracy to 100%.

Calculation of Textiles

The CCAD Calculation uses the synthetic method to calculate the consumption of sheet goods. The calculation takes a variety of different factors into account. They are all combinable with each other:

  • Orientation of the pattern when nesting
  • Nesting on a certain length of material, or a defined number of patterns
  • Nesting the pattern pairwise
  • Rotate the Pattern
  • Nesting in a defined angle
  • Material width
  • Usable material width

The result:

  • Quantity
  • Required material length
  • Material width is taken from the material master
  • Net area defines the material requirement for the single patterns
  • Gross area, actual material requirement
  • Efficiency, utilization of material given in percent

RG Technologies also offers the function of "automatic nesting". In this method, all factors are combined with each other in order to determine the optimal nesting of all combinations with the highest efficiency. This process is very fast and provides guaranteed the result with the highest utilization of material.

Calculation of Stretch Materials

Another calculation method in CCAD is the measurement of stretches. This is used to calculate the consumption of stretch materials, such as reinforcing and seam tapes. The measurement of stretches concludes three different methods:

  • Bands, which extend along the complete pattern outline are calculated over the entire outline of the pattern
  • The measurement of a partial outline of the pattern is used when the bands are located only in a certain area of the pattern.
  • The dynamic measurement is used for stretch materials that are somewhere within the pattern.

These three methods meet the requirements of the stretch measurement quickly and efficiently. The result contains a accurate indication of the material length of the measured stretches.

Interfaces of the CCAD Calculation

The CCAD Calculation includes various interfaces to the common ERP systems for inventory control. The results of the calculation and the data of the Bill of Material are automatically transmitted to the connected external system. This is done quickly and smoothly. The material planning can be carried out promptly and planning secure based on exact consumption values.
